BTC White Christmas update

The Benalla Theatre Company production of Irving Berlin’s classic White Christmas opens at BPACC on Friday 30 July, running through until Saturday 7 August .

Set during the 1950’s, the show tells the story of Bob Wallace (Stephen Winkler) and Phil Davis (Paul Altmann), once performers for the troops in World War II and now Broadway stars, who team up with a pair of sisters, Betty and Judy Haynes, (Dianne Feldtmann and Debbie Patterson) to help out their former commanding officer, whose business is not doing well. Mix-ups, humour, and a happy ending all follow.

Irving Berlin’s magical songs are a highlight of the show. From some of his best known works to the lesser, as each one helps move not only the story along, but also the emotions of the audience. Some of the best include Count Your Blessings, I Love a Piano, Blue Skies and of course the title song, White Christmas, made famous by Bing Crosby.

Directed by Molly Craig with Musical Director Elaine Heywood, the cast and crew of White Christmas have been working hard since February to put the show together. Featuring BTC members both old and new, this well gelled cast is now ready to perform! Rehearsals have been really enjoyable and a great experience for some of the younger cast members who are gaining some invaluable knowledge from those who have trodden the boards before.
